SpaceBroth

SpaceBroth is an experimental design studio working in the realms of performance, interiors, exhibitions and objects. Formed from the need to express ideas surrounding the human experience and connection to the living planet their work questions humans trajectory through material and spatial exploration.

Bio

Spacebroth was founded by partners Borbala Kovacs and Jack Headford in 2021.

Borbala Kovacs studied MA Contextual Design at Design Academy Eindhoven before moving to London. Having worked for a variety of acclaimed studios including Universal Design Studio, V&A, Heatherwick Studio and Es Devlin, her work has bridged large-scale architectural projects, high-end interiors, exhibition design, stage design and art installations. Projects include exhibition design for V&A, Wellcome Collection and New York's MET Costume Institute. Installation design for immersive art experience at Miami SuperBlue and stage design for immersive dance work Here Not Here at Gothenburg Opera House. Her passion for material exploration means every project is met with a philosophy of interaction and connection.

Jack Headford studied Interior Design at Kingston School of Art. His thesis exploring borders of music and architecture has been an ongoing exploration. His intrigue for articulating music in the built environment led him to Es Devlin where he spent years working as Lead Associate Designer leading projects for the largest stages in the world including The Weeknd's Super Bowl Halftime show and 2018 Coachella Performance. He has also designed numerous awards show performances including Latin Grammys, MTV Awards and The Brits for artists Rosalia and Jess Glynne and has lead installations at iconic London sites including a giant Lion in Trafalgar Square and forest at Somerset House Courtyard. Alongside practice he is also a 3rd year tutor at Kingston School of Art's Interior Design course supporting the development of a new generation of designers.

With years of experience working in a variety of design industries Jack and Bori have carefully nurtured a thoughtful outlook on the built environments role in society. With a firm bedrock of projects, SpaceBroth is now a platform for rigorous engagement with client and site. They strive to provide ethical and environmentally conscious design that works to the highest standards of practice.
